Is this some sort of safety feature?

In the dirt parking lot was for fun.The time on dry pavement, well...that'* a long story.
But yeah ,I know it'* bad for your car , that'* why I don't make a habit of it. I've done it at 25-30 mph a dozen or so times on dry pavement (the first time was on my first test drive in bonne with the salesman in the car ) on wide straight roads with no one else around, the rest of them have been on wet road or in dirt or snow.

I don't know what kind of salesman you were with but if I did that around here, the salesman would have punched me in the face and shoved me out the car

i have this problem in the tempo, but the tempo is set up so that the torque converter is locked in 3rd gear, and every time i lock up the brakes in 3rd gear, the car dies instantly. this may be what is happening too. the TCC may be still engaged when you come around, causing the engine to die. that would explain why it doesnt die at 25-30.
