Default Security feature

I have this feature but it doesn't work. I dont have a keyless entry transmitter but was wondering how I can set the security without it. Is this possible?

You should be able to set it by pressing the power lock button on the door when the engine is off and the door is open.

Yah, what fuddyduddy said. If it is the same as mine, you activate it any time you lock the door with the automatic doorlock button when the engine is off. If you want to test it, roll down the window enough to reach in, shut off the car, get out and hit the auto-door lock on your way out, and shut the door. Then reach in and manually unlock the door and try to open it from the outside. The alarm should go off...mine does.

Edit: I'm not sure how you can shut it off though without the transmitter...you might want to find that out before you test it. :P

What fuddy and Hailey said....

It takes 30 seconds (for mine...probably Hailey'* too) for the system to engage so wait till the "security" light goes out until you open the door. The alarm also goes off if someone damages your trunk lock too.

No prob. I tried it on mine a few times a while back, before I remembered it takes 30 seconds. I couldn't figure out why it didn't go off

I remember how to cut it off w/o transmitter from my 97'. You have to walk aroun to the driver side door and turn the key to the left to cut it off. It acts as if its the keyless entry button to unlock the driver side door first. THen if you hold it longenough, all of the doors unlock. COOOOL!!!!

To turn it off you just have to shut the door and unlock it with the key. Easy enough

My security light don't come on or blink at all when the car is off or when the door opens. I think its off period. The only time it comes on is if the car starts up and then it goes out.

Okay, new thought. Are you sure you have an actual alarm? My old GP didn't have an alarm, but it did have the security light. The only time I saw the light was when starting up the car or when the key was wet. The light actually worked with the chip in the key to tell you when something was up with that. It wasn't a security sytem in the classic sense, but it was a feature that prevented a different key than the one programmed for the car from being used...all of our Bonnies have that feature I believe.
