General GM Chat When starting new posts, please specify YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, ENGINE type, and whatever modifications you have made. Chat about all things GM (and related cars). Off-topic stuff should be in the Lounge, and all Model specific mechanical problems should be posted in the proper forum.

Wuite obviously a custom set made by an owner, since GM/Pontiac neve named the SE, SSE, or SSEi.

Slight verbage disagreement here. All engines use induction..the SC is FORCED induction..therefore it should be SSEf if thats what the I stands for.

(gets fire extinguisher)

I can think of a few things the "I" can stand for, international (aka some OLDS models of the late 80'*) Insane Incredible , or the whole name could also be Super Sport Eaton inside!

I guess it can mean whatever we want if GM didnt actually name it.

I'm still sticking with the meaning that I saw written on a bill board during the intro of the new 2000 SSEi model at a Los Angeles car show.
* - Safety
* - Security
E - Efficiency
i - intelligent

Each of which was expanded to explain all the special option features that this model had over its lesser siblings.

Well it can mean a number of things like
Silver Sheet Enterprises, Inc : http://ssei.net/
Maybe GM is a fan of SSEI computers: http://www.sseus.com/computers/
They could have known people that worked at Software Sense Enterprises, Inc http://www.softwaresense.com/contact.html
Could be the Student Self Esteem Inventory http://members.ozemail.com.au/~pjprs/ssei.html
Maybe they attended the Secondary Special Education Institute http://www.esd189.org/special/ssei/accomod.html
