Default Question for willwren...

If I remember correctly, you mentioned before that you have the heated windshield. I was browsing your site, and I don't see the button for it. Where is it?

It'* automatic. (unfortunately). I wish I had manual control over it. Comes on with defrost. I pull the 60-amp fuse in the spring, put it back in the fall. It'* a huge load on the system, especially at night.

Weird. In my manual, it shows the button on the dash, right where you have your cell. I wonder why auto? Is you windshield kinda tinted like a Lincoln?

Yours is a 92......my 93 owners manual doesn't even LIST the option. Nor does it show a switch. They must have made a change between 92 and 93 (there are other differences...your sunroof interior and exterior trim are different than mine, as is the switch to open it, and a few other minor interior cosmetics).

Go to my website, and click on the link under the list of links....the gallery. You'll see pics of the exterior and interior sunroof pics on my car and Justin'* 92 SSEi. Obvious differences. I recall the door panels or at least the speaker grilles in the doors being different, too, and maybe the ashtray in the center console...but that may only be the SE. I might be mistaken on that one.

The 92 and 93 are actually more different cosmetically and mechanically under the hood than most are aware of.

Other differences:

Car colored wheels were not available on the SSEi in 93, but were in 92. CV retainer clips were improved in 93 (not sure about the shafts themselves), rockers and heads differed between 92/93, Exhaust manifolds are slightly different (regardless of the lack of EGR in the non-SC models), and the balance shaft is different....in what way, I don't know.

Damn you. Got me thinking again. Not only are the differences between the 92/93 surprising (especially when you excect them to be identical, like I did), but on top of all that, my car is really a freak of nature all by itself. From the RPO sticky:

Big discrepancies in mine.
Options my car has, but the RPO label doesn't list:

UV6-Head up display
AU0-Keyless entry
C50-Heated windshield
KG9-140amp Alternator (mine is listed as K68-105amp, but the 140 was on the car, and goes with the heated WS option)

Codes not on our list in Techinfo, but listed on my label:
NB2-CA emissions
N73-Wheels-custom sport, variation 4
QVF-Z-rated tires (did my car actually ship from the factory with Z'*?)
643-Beige leather trim

Codes I have listed that I can't decipher:
R6K
R9Y
6JC
7JB

And my label says I have 8ZB and 9ZB, which sound like the electronic struts, which I DON'T have (thank god), but could these mean ELC instead?
I didn't even know I had a heated windshield until I replaced it last year. Same thing on the Alternator. It was the factory installed unit that I replaced with the DP 160.

The only information I know about the history of my car is that it was a corporate fleet vehicle for an unknown company......with a $30k price tag, it was likely a company executive'* car (our fleet cars at hp are POS Taurus'*). I'm GUESSING that the next owner took the car when he retired. I bought it from the wholesaler that bought it from his widow after he died.

Now the discrepancies in the RPO list MIGHT be explained if this were a factory order, and the order was changed while the car was being built. That'* the only explanation I can come up with.

And don't forget about my rear steering

I knew about most that stuff. Engine internals, etc.
My sunroof is like the one in pic 105. Pic 104 appears to be an aftermarket sunroof. My outside seal look just like pic 131. 105 and 131 are your roof, correct?
I have the same door panels and speaker grills you do. "Lower" radio options have one speaker in the doors with an oval grille.
Our drivers airbag covers are different. I have no Pontiac dart on my steering wheel, just the word Pontiac.
Same ashtray.
I've seen 93'* with the same 92 wheels, but not color matched, just grey.

Where did you see that rear steer light?
