Default Rusty Brakes lines

I need to get through inspection and having my transmission redone. Mechanic told me brake lines are serevely rusted near tranny and should be replaced. I haven't seen them yet. If tranny is out how many hours should a compete line replacement take and what should I expect to pay for parts. TIA

That would depend on whether or not pre-manufactured lines are available or whether or not they had to be custom made.

Whether the tranny is in or out wouldnt make a difference as to time with brakelines. Jobs like replacing brake lines have so many variables to state a given time. But Reputable auto shops charge you shop rate x the hours stated in a "Flat Rate" manual. If yours doesnt. I would go elsewhere. You can check most Autopart stores prices online. They vary greatly. Auto Parts Fast at RockAuto has the best overall and good service.

I am not aware of the dealer selling prefab brake lines. Even when I was at Chevy be had to Fab our own. As far as time in a flat rate manual I checked Blue Motors, Alldata and On demand5/Mitch there are no listings. You will be at the mercy of the tech doing the work.
