Default REPLACE IT BEFORE IT BREAKS!

I've always been a stickler for replacing parts that I know are troublesome before they break. So when I went to replace my oil sending unit I just barley put my hand on it to remove the connector and SNAP! I've seen quite a few of 100k+ 3800s come into my shop with these broke and dumping oil. If yours has over 100k I'd recamend replacing it!
You may be avoiding a tow and potential engine damage.

How many miles were on yours when it broke? Were you on the road?

Sorry, should have been more specific, I was trying to take it off, and it broke off at the point where the metal starts. It had around 118k when I tried to replace it

The earliest one i've seen went at 67k on my friend'* 98 Bonneville. He was driving but shut it down and towed it.

Yeah, it'* clearly a bad design. That plastic is very flimsy and that'* not good to have connected to an engine that gets over 200* F. at times.
