Default Removing Bearing race from hub

Trying to get a bearing race off a hub. I have a bearing separator but even when I tighten the "clam shell" very tight over the race, when I turn the thrust screw it just pulls the "clam shell" up and off the race,,,, what now...anyone dealt with the same?

Heat the hub good and hit the race with a cold wet rag and remove.
