When I test drove one for the first time, the salesman showed me the E/M button. I thought it was too cool and knew I had to have one. Sounds kind of lame, but that really sold me.

My Parents gave it to me

They got it because they needed a car to fit the family, and it was way cooler than the Taurus or Crown Vic

Wanted on for about 5 years prior, saved up enough to pay cash. Looked through the paper for about 3 months untill I found one that was one year old for the right price. Bought the 1990 WhiteSSE the first time I saw it since the test drive was better then I thought it would be. Got it for less then I had planned. Cash Rules All.

Well, I was on the prowl for either a Mazda Millenia * or an Acura Legend when I came across this hole in the wall used car place. (keep in mind, I was a bit of a ricer and didn't appreciate American cars like I do now) So, I walked in and asked if they had any Acuras or Hondas or anything. They said all the had was American. I laughed in their face and was about to walk out the door when he said... well... what are you looking for? I told him, and he threw me a pair of keys. It had a tag that said " '92 Bonneville SEEi" on it, and I laughed again asking him if I looked like I'm 80 to him... He told me to just drive it... Well, it was a boring summer day, and I didn't have anything to do, so I thought why not. I went outside and noticed that it wasn't a bad looking car at all. In fact, I really really liked it. My friend thought I was crazy and said his Honda EG6 could beat that thing any day. It couldn't, we tried . After that, I stopped dead in my tracks when I noticed it had "supercharged" written on the doors... No way... Yeah way.... All it took for me was to pinch the throttle, enjoy some alien concept called "torque" and listen to the sexy sexy sounds of the M62 to take it home two days later. My friend with the EG6 just bought a Cobalt SS because of how cool my Bonnie was

It was the only car on the lot with a 3800 and I wanted a car I knew would be dependable. My Bonnie was an upgrade from a 91 Regal GS that got totaled. Also, I was surprised during my test drive when I hit the gas and the car jumped to 70 mph in the blink of an eye.

Thanks for the laugh Darcy!

Growing up my dad always said he wanted a Bonneville. All I knew about them was the 87-91 body style and I thought they were ugly. Then one day at work my parents came in to show me their new car. A dark cherry metallic 97 SSEi. They had bought it as an impulse on the side of the road. MY dad was in love. That night I asked to take it out. I went out with a couple friends and I ended up finding out what the speed limiter cut out at. I was hooked from then on. I knew nothing about Bonnevilles, but I knew how I wanted mine to look. Black on Black. I hunted ebay for months until I finally found it. A 95 SSEi in Ohio, almost 1000 miles away. I drove with a friend to go pick it up. I soon came to learn that I had purchased a series 1 3800 and that my parent'* was faster! Been modding ever since

what is the E/M button :?:

i drove my parents' 97 SE when i first got my license... it seemed pretty nice, lots of room and comforatable but not a whimpy motor...
i saw a kid at school was selling a 95 SSE cheap, and i pounced on it.
