I always hate trying to explain this...
The FE2 rear springs were designed with the air struts( ELC ) in mind... The spring and the air assisted strut went hand in hand for ride quality and a level ride... Ever notice if you see a Caddy, A park Ave , a 98 Olds, or even a Bonneville and they have bad rear struts or a dead ELC the rear end sags? This is because the air struts are an important part of the system...
On the F41 and FE1 equipped Bonneville this was not an issue as the spring was set to hold the weight of the car and the spring is progressive in that the more weight placed upon them the less they will compress.. Sounds stupid I know...
Also this depends on how stiff you want the car to ride.... And to top it off you need to take into consideration that too much air in the rear struts can affect the alignment to a certain degree... I like to have the alignment set with 20 psi in the rear shocks... I like the ride quality I get from 20 Psi and the rear end is not too high... 35 Psi is like a brick...
On a trip, I loaded the car down, suitcases and the like... I had to run at 35 psi to keep the back end level, it gave a good ride and wasn't like a brick as there was plenty of weight in the trunk... Once I hit those Rough roads I started thinking the ride had become stiffer than I wanted it to be, and at points it was bone jarring...
Being that the quick struts you used may have had the FE1 springs, I reccomend that you keep you original rear springs, and add a set of Monroe Matic Plus or Sensatrack air struts... see if you like it before you decide to change springs...
