Default Rear seat cushion removal??

New guy here, just got a 2000 SSEI. I want to look at the battery and fuse box under the rear seat. (and clean out under there) The Manual says, just lift up,-- yeah right!! Any trick to this?
I felt under the front edge all the way across and tried lifting, pushing, etc, etc.
Any help is appreciated!!!

You should be able to push the seat back towards the rear of the car with your knee, then lift up. Should be a clip that looks like this. However, your year might be different.

My 2001 does not have clip like that, but it is just a straight lift on the front of the seat. There are two retention clips, so you might want to lift up in the center of each seating area. The clips will release independant of each other, so you can lift them one at a time.

Pull hard.

Grab the seat front on the driver and passenger side and pull straight up.

Thanks guys, the manual says just lift up! I have tried. I have tried to push back and lift. It is solid. I am older and not the strongest guy so I need to get someone at work here(younger) with more strength maybe?
Thanks so much guys!!

Pushing back in the case of an 00 would only engage the clips more. It really is just a front edge lift. Give a quick firm tug straight up.

Thank guys, I got it. I wasnt pulling hard and fast enough! I put a glove on and yanked it and it about hit me in the face! Cleaned the area out and all looks great.
After buying Fords for 20 years I am quite impressed with this car! Got it last week and took the Bonneville out to the Bonneville Salt Flats for Speed Week. Nice highway car. I was going for a Bonne or a Grand Prix *-Charged. Wanted some 4 door power with mileage and all the gadgets. I think I got a good buy on this Silver 2000. So far so good!
Take care and Thanks all!!

One disadvantage of it being in the car! That is bad! My battery was either original or a factory replacement. So far so good!
Take care all!
