Nope, but I read an online article on Car and Driver.com and the Nissan Maxima handed the new 04 GP its *** in a lot of areas, like general fit and finish. You know, the typcial stuff that C and D likes to compare.
Have they SC'd the new 04 GP?

The GP come in 3 flavors this year...GT, GTP and GTP CompG. No more weak 3100, the base engine is now the 3800 Series III L26. Bringing in the GTP is the L32 SC motor, and the CompG gets the same engine but gets better valve lift for an extra 10 horsepower. That'* not advertised, but it'* there. The new setup can easily give 300-325 Crank HP now. The 4T65E-HD has been fitted with a limited slip diff, and hardened bands. Guess they've been listening. The CompG gets TAP shift, GM'* version of a manual controled paddle shifter. It also gets better handling and stopping power. If anyone want the full specs on these cars let me know. I have them.
Car and Driver is one of the WORST mags for car info, only beaten by AUTOMOBILE. These rags regularly degrade ALL American car manufacturers. They even rip on MB now that they own Chrysler. Although the new Maxima is very crisp in most areas, it can't hold a candle to the new GP in style. Have you seen the new Maxima? It'* like an Altima has been fed a Gremlin and crapped the Maxima. It'* too long to have that "half-an-egg" design of the Altima and it looks nothing like the previous model. It should have been given a new name. The strangest feature on the new Maxima is the glass roof that comes standard. It'* a strip of glass about a foot wide that goes from front to back. It doesn't open. Why? Because Japanese automakers have been accused of being boring as of late. Nissan wants to be just the opposite. That'* what got American Motors the Grelim and Pacer. Just hoping......

No, I agree, I was shocked at the way C and D ripped up the GP. Its about time that North American cars have reached the luxury/performance level of some higher end German cars etc

True Car Nut
Was at the Auto Show and saw the new 04 GP GTP with the series III motor in it. I"ve taken a few pics of the new block ( none of the car ).. and as soon as I get them developed I'll see if I can get someone ( with a working scanner ) to scan the pics. I asked them at the Auto Show if they've fixed the Upper head gasket issues with the new mill..they were and didn't even know there was a problem from the previous series II. My question is what would be needed to have the */C ( M120 ) fit from the series III to the Series II other then TB and possilby new PCM or reflash of the old one.. hummm...

I'm checking on the PCM right now. If it is the same unitflased differently, we may have found the edge on the GP'ers!
