I started driving the '98 LeSabre beginning of this year, after it was my wife'* car for 6 years. She took it to Valvoline down the road religiously every 3k for oil and lube all that time.

Once I got it, I started doing my own oil and lube on that car. The factory lube caps were still on all the zerk fittings
I also had to replace the oil pan bolt because it had been nearly "denuded" from cross-threading.

The '04 LeSabre she drives now will never be seen at a Lube chain so long as we own it.

Wherever you go, WATCH them. Stand right in the exit doorway of the bay, and make sure they know you're the owner.

There is one place I have gone to the past, partailly due to the one service writer girl, man she was SUPER cute, it was worth every oil change...regardles...
This place I have gone to, well, They changed the rear differentail oil in a customers vehicle, only kicker, they only added the small (supercharger oil bottle size) of Posi Additive to the diff, and not the 80w90, needless to say, the diff was compleatly toast when the customer drove away. HOWEVER. They booked that truck in with me at the gear centre, we repaired it to OEM spec, they footed the bill, they stood behind there error very well.
However, I generally change my own oil, have for the past two years now, I have a car hoist at work at my disposal after hours.

Last week at the garage i work at, a customer brought in his toyota celica for a bad knock, we checked the oil, dipstick was dry. It took 4 quarts to bring the oil to level, and its a 4.5 qt engine. Then customer said he had taken to a quick lube a week before. The car did not leak a drop or burn any oil, we put it up on a lift and it was bone dry. Then the quick lube place tried to say it was leaking bad when they were confronted about it. No this guys going to court to get a new engine.
I've also seen them show customers powersteering fluid and tell them its transmission fluid and try and sell a trannie flush


I would avoid quick lubes and either do the oil change yourself or spend a little more to have it done right at a full service garage

I go into the shop and watch! they dont mind at the place I go to economylube its 21cnd I think for a filter and oil and they grease the fitting or w\e they do aswell.

Like most auto repair facilities, there are good ones, and bad ones as well as those that lie somewhere in between. My son works part time at Valvoline, where they have dedicated, knowledgeable staff, with good management. The Valvoline about a mile away is about the worst in town. If you are going to have someone else do the work, whether an instant oil change shop, auto repair shop, or the dealer, try to get a recommendation from a friend, or relative on a good place to have it done.

Whenever I get an Autozone rewards coupon, I go get some oil and a filter and change it myself. Either that, or every 5k miles, whichever comes first
