The 2K shifter is cool. Natural angle for the hand, better shape, and it has finger grooves

Ditto, went out for a spin, in the old nova yesterday to get some engine cleaner while my grill was off. I was driving that lil sticked bugger like nobody should

there is also clip under the button and sometimes iteither comes off or the bigger piece came off. try looking there first!!!

Moot point. I prefer the early 90'* T handle WiTHOUT the big button. But I prefer the 2k shifter even more.

I dug my stocker out. I like the big button. That clip holding the button cover on is a bugger to get out. It'* got bent over tips, so when it is put in, the tips pop out and it latches real secure-like.

FYI -1995+ have a shorter shift stalk, thus shorter shifting. I remember comparing my 1994 SLE against my friends 1995 SLE, and again against my 1999 SSEi -the 1995-1999 use the same boot as 1992-1994, but the shaft is about 1" to 1-1/2" shorter in the 1995-1999.
If anyone wants a short shift assembly I'll be selling the shifter from my 1997 SSE.

OldBlue, you're right about the shifter stalks being longer. Mine is longer than the 2000 SSEi that I took the shifter from, but they all interchange and work fine. You MUST have the boot that comes with the shifter, though. It comes up and shrouds the lower part of the T handle.

I had the button fall fall off mine. Having the smaller one was much better than the large one. However, the small one looks like ****.. so I don't really care. Did they have tan interiors with that cobra shifter? That is badass. Does it have a button? So could I like just throw the shifter around as I please? I love my shifter.. although it'* a little dirty. And, I too hold onto mine. I hold the steering wheel with my left hand [yes, I know it'* not 10:10, blah blah blah], and then my right hand gets bored.. and it needs something to grab onto . Plus I like to manual shift, since my tranny doesn't slip [or at least doesn't slip as bad] with manually shifting.
