In this case it is necessary, I was using an engine leveler with the hoist and that brings the hoist up about another foot.. Poof move the hood, but have full ability to move the engine and tilt.

It'* a bunch of fun.. now the question is..

How many steps does it take to wake up a mod?

Actually the charger didn't seem too bad. However..this topic isn't about my old charger.

Let'* see what'* going on with the new one.

Yesterday was very productive. In aiming to change cam bearings the connecting rod caps and main bearings need to come off for the crank to come out. Well..the main bearings are held in by two bolts straight down on each and 1-3 have bolts on their sides as well. I pulled all the bolts and couldn't get the main bearing caps off. They should come out easy enough from the information everyone tells me. I decide to start the springs. Flipped the motor back over.. put air to the #5 hear hissing (that'* not right???), try #3.. same..odd, GP buddy moves to cylinder #1 as I am looking up toward them to see what'* happenBOOM! Three of the main caps blew off, the last one is holding the crank in. #1 piston came out the bottom partially and the rings are holding it from going back in.

End result, piston is cracked. I should be able to get only a piston from the views of my mechanic buddy and an aircraft machinist. Things will be checked before it goes back together. Overall..bearings look great, only issue is a cracked/chipped piston.

No, it'* not a joke...beginner'* mistake.

Here'* the pics that we did get. Tony was moving and cruising so much no one really got many pictures. Since the head(*) had to come off to put the new piston in.. off to do the springs

Took the time to clean the subframe of the car, all the parts and accessories that usually you wouldn't take the time to clean.. well.. it'* all clean now. Will be great to put it back together.

The only things left in the block are half of the main bearings, balance shaft, cam bearings and knock sensors.

All gasket surfaces are clean, everything is ready to go back together except that one little piston and checking over a couple things.

It so happens that as soon as I arrived, not even two minutes later the mains let go and crunch went the piston....Bill said something about a white curse?? I don’t know what he’* talking about.

Allot of the work was already done by the time I arrived, but that didn’t mean there wasn’t more to do. As Bill mentioned, we tore down the block to bare minimum and I’ve learned allot in the process.

I wish I was able to help more on this project, but Ill definitely be there when things start to go back on and eventually the engine goes back into the car.

After all was said and done and everyone headed in for the night, I accidentally gave Boosty, as well as half of the neighborhood, a wake up call at 3:30am

Since I had allot of things to do at home, I decided to leave Bills in the middle of the night. While trying to be quiet, I unlocked the door using my key to avoid the horn beep that usually accompanies the keyless entry.

So I get in, start the car, and as soon as I step on the brake, the godamn horn starts BLARING!!! I panic and try to shut the car off to disable the alarm, no go!! so I press the unlock button and its finally off......Whew!! I start the car once again and attempt to put the car into reverse, and the freaking horn starts blaring once again. DUH I’m a retard and now half the neighborhood is up.........

I finally get it and by the time I’m heading out of the driveway, I see Bill at the front door wondering WTF was going on....I gave a goodbye beep and headed on home. After getting on the highway, I chuckled to myself and finally made it in the door by 5pm. lol

Bill, Thanks for the good times as usual. It was nice to see the fellas again!!

Good pictures.

Now start putting it back together already.

Are you going to over bore .020" to clean it up and buy a new set of forged pistons :?:

Why do pistons have to go in from the top esp if the crank is out?
I've wondered about that for a long time but I've never done one to actually know.

because you have to compress the rings in with a ring tool and tap the piston into the cylinder with it still in the ring tool, so that they dont pop out wider then the cylinder diamiter...

I think that about sums it up...did i miss anything?
