fuel filter surprise
Changed my fuel filter today. When I got if off, something was rattling inside when I shook it. Cut it open and saw ...
The filter element is supposed to be glued to the top of the housing. You can see traces of adhesive on the metal top, but the filter element had become detached ...
This means fuel was flowing through the filter housing and bypassing the filter element.
I'm thinking this is why I had to replace an injector a couple of weeks ago.

If you have debris moving past the filter then it will get stuck in the injectors. Might want to run some seafoam threw the tank to help clean out anything that might be stuck in the injectors.

They certainly don't work right when they fall of the inner lid like that. I saw this happen to a water filter on a diesel fire pump once....that was not at all pretty!
