would strip magnets work better by any chance? I have a big roll of those suckers.. and they i'm thinking maybe I could have more manetic material then those small circle ones.

Some of the strongest magnets in the world are computer hard drive magnets. Just stick them to the outside of the pan like I did.
They'll be alot stronget than strip magnets, and you need strength, not surface area. You're trying to 'grab' metal particles while they're circulating in the pan.

Thanks to this thread, I just grabbed a couple of junk HDs from the back room. Will rip 'em apart tonight, and have about magnets on my pan(*) before the snow flies...
