Not sure how an ad for a 97 fits with your budget, but you'd be way further along if you bought that car.
Pretty sure that'* Merlin'* old car. He sold it this past spring/late last fall. For the entire history look up user "Merlin 91/97"
$3,000 is a great price. I'd jump at that in a heartbeat if it was local. The heads actually passed through me on their way to Canada.
