I have been using Valvoline durablend synthetic blend now and I would like to switch to Mobile 1 at some point or another band. But I will have to use blends for now due to my finances. I also can't stand to have oil older than 2500 miles so I change it often. My other question is what brand would you recomend for me. I am now running a synthetic blend because I can't afford to use full just yet. Is there a better brand blend than valvoline?? When I has my caravan I used mobile 1 full synthetic. I never used synthetic blends before my Bonny so I am not sure if ones better than the other. I want one to protect my engine pretty good.
Save yourself money/time and simply change your oil IAW the recommendations of GM (for your car every 7500). As for what kind of oil just use any oil that has the latest SAE letters and seal.

GM doesn't spec synthetic, so I'd assume that 7500 would be for Dinosaur juice.

Maybe make it 5800 miles to match my post count

Why does everybody presume they could change the oil every 3000 miles all the way up to 7500 miles?

Its true MOST fully syntech oils will last UP to 7500 miles. DEPENDING on your driving habits and where you drive. If you live in the country, or in a small city where there is usually alot of freeway and not many stop and go driving; one can change the oil every 7500 miles. Because you didn't wear out the oil or put pressure on the engine

But if you live in a densely populated city, with lots of stop signs, traffic, smog etc.. you HAVE to change it every 3000-3500 miles because the oil is overworked and not guaranteed to function properly.

Remember OIL change is all about proximity and driving habits... if you drive HARD....you have to change more frequent compared to a perdon who drives like granny and change it every 7000 miles.

I think that most full synthetic oils are similar, and 5K oil changes are fine unless you are starting and stopping the car cold all the time.

Dont forget guys and girls, that the oil filter brand is just as important as the oil !! If you use Mobil 1 oil, and a $2 Fram filter, then listen to your engine when you start it. Then go get an AC Delco PF47 filter for $4 and you can hear the difference. Do you car a favor and put a decent oil filter on there as well.

One thing I want to know about. I started using Mobil 1 in my SSEI at about 80K miles. As far as I know, before that was conventional oil. Well, since the 2nd oil change I did, I have been getting an oil leak somewhere that I cant find. Does changing to full Syn oil do that sometimes ?

Cheers,

Andrew

I Changed the oil a week and a half ago and used a Fram X2 Filter. I noticed that my oil pressure dropped big time. So the next day I bought a K&N Filter. Best Oil Filter I ever used. Starting next oil change I am switching to Mobil 1 and using K&N for the rest of my engines life.
