Never had no fancy stuff like that i just check my fluids regularly and change my oil at 2500 miles

yea thats why i asked about it,i do 5000 on good oil and 3000 on reg oil

When I had a car that didn't have the monitor I would run regular oil to 5000 miles. Now that every car I own has a monitor I just go by that. Honestly though I think my monitor is a little on the safe side. Every time I've changed the oil when it said to the oil was still pretty golden.

Here'* a great write up of the OLM from a Cadillac website (a great site for Northstar info). It is pretty amazing how GM built the system. It uses engine RPM, ambient temperature, and other factors and plugs them into a formula to determine oil condition.

Gm service adviser told me that the 3000 mile oil change thing is out the window !!!! Change it when the light says so !
