General GM Chat When starting new posts, please specify YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, ENGINE type, and whatever modifications you have made. Chat about all things GM (and related cars). Off-topic stuff should be in the Lounge, and all Model specific mechanical problems should be posted in the proper forum.

It isn't that it is "bad" for the engine; it is that it is easy to lean the engine out to the point of rapid self destruction if not done right.

Like all other power adders, it is the tuning that counts.

One of the biggest down sides to N2O is that it is a short burst only, great for the quarter mile, while superchargers and turbochargers make power as long as you have fuel and the cooling system can keep up.

STFU you idiot kid. I encourage it'* use, as long as you are half-mature person and over age 18.

I had it on a 94 SSE of all cars, I was much younger and more prone to not caring how I spent my money, but with proper applications its healthy fun.

I used a Dry shot before the MAF, which is as safe for the engine as you can be with such a setup. Some have installed TB plates behind the TB all together and that can help avoid any MAF malfunction down the road, but last I checked (granted years ago) those had leaking issues.

Be sure you have some way of riching up the fuel before you flip the switch or you will cause bad detonation over time. I had a little switch-box module under the hood for this, but I forgot who made it and if its even made anymore. I'm sure there are products out there for this though. Instense and ZZP are your best bets.

no its not.

Q: Is nitrous oxide flammable?

A: No. Nitrous oxide by itself is non-flammable. However, the oxygen present in nitrous oxide causes combustion of fuel to take place more rapidly.
I always beleived it to be flammable because there was a story about how state troopers were being trained to recognize aftermarket perfomance upgrades including NOS systems because cars were burning up after getting into accidents.

Heres the OSHA info on N(2)O

http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/healthguide...cognition.html

Down a little bit, it states that Nitrous oxide is not flammable at room temperature....??? Would it be at colder temps? I dont know. I got lazy and didnt read the whole thing.

If you are considering it...

PM Venom and CLM2112 aka John and Curt. Both have setups. Curt'* is on his LN3 in a 90ish.

Research the idea and decide from there.
