My Headlight Housings are basically brand new, cause the car was in a front end accident, and they aren't pitted at all. Looks nice, clean, and white!

I'd like to know what'* the recommendation, is it better to have the headlights with the metal ring around the tip of the low beam bulb, or is it better without?

I checked my '95, there'* no rings on mine, my next door neighbor has a '93 SE, his has the rings. I believe my headlamp housings are original, but if they aren't, how can I tell, are they stamped with any different markings? I compared all the markings on the lenses of his and mine, and the markings seem identical.
