Hey! :P I read the directions, just not the analog section.

I based this off of several sources: PDad'* thread, INTENSE website, and the instruction book. All seemed to say that I should connect to a power source.

IIRC, it will always power up just by plugging the OBD2 connector in. I thought the separate power wire was needed because of power-down issues if not connected to a power source., or so it turns on only when the key is turned on...

I'm confused. lol

PDad'* gauge was the old style, v1, where the power wire WAS necessary. INTENSE has probably not updated their site yet for the v2.2 gauge.

having mine in the OBD2 port only, it boots about 5 seconds after I start the car, and turns off about 10 seconds after I shut the car off.

Yeah...What I'll do is test first. If it seems to turn on, and OFF correctly, I'll be good without the power wire. I wish I didn't remove the jumper (at home), because the gauge is in the car now and I could have driven home to test it out. lol

Mine needed the power tap...

As the manual states from years 96-98 probably need the tap.

So far it seems to be working by just using the OBD2 connector. Looks great!!

damn your trans is hot! how long of a drive was that?

That is the temp after driving home from work. I got home from work, installed it, and the temp was where you see it (it was at 197 once the gauge first powered up). My last 5-10 minutes of my commute home is stop-and-go driving. My whole commute is just under an hour.

I will test things tomorrow so I can see where my trans is on the highway. I wasn't too happy to see almost 200. It must have been above 200 at one point. My 94 idling on a hot day never got above 160.

I drove around the block and saw 3.0* KR in second gear at half throttle. That'* horrible.

I haven't done ANY tune-up things yet though, so hopefully new plugs and wires and other things will help solve that.
