Default "new" rims, tires the same?

My buddy has a 2000 Caddy STS and is thinking about upgrading to the 2002 17 inch. rims. He currently has the stock 16'* on it. I might be able to buy them from him dirt cheap, so I was wondering if the tires off my stock 16'* would fit them?

Here'* the specs I got from TireRack.com:

Cadillac'* size: 235/60-16

Pontiac'* size: 225/60-16

I know the first number is different.....

Only thing you need to worry about with mounting wheels and tires is if the wheel diameter will fit in the tire(any 16" wheel will fit in a XXX/XX/R16) and whether what size wheel the tire will accomodate. I'm postive those Caddy wheels will work just fine.

My buddy'* 2001 STS that he used to have had the 17" wheels... these?

They're 7-spokers as well. Said buddy had those wheels in chrome, but they (and the car) were always dirty, that car had so much potential - it was diamond white too:

Both rims are the same, just chrome/nonchrome...

I'll get pics of what replaced it (2005 V6 STS: silver, so they don't have to wash it lol) eventually.
