No tools necessary. It should pop out with just fingers. Or something SOFT, or a screwdriver very carefully

The solid light in the trunk of your DIC is the gas tank. Is your gas low?

In my old 1999 SSEi to remove the power seat control panel from the center console I had to take the ash tray out, unscrew the two T15 torx head screws, pull the shifter handle (with ignition on, engine off, gear selector in N with parking brake on), and tilt the grey console panel up (swinging motion holding it near the ash tray), when you get it up high enough unplug the switch panel with the Traction control etc., and then tilt further until you can get at the hook on the bottom of the seat controls. The 1992-1995 doesn't have the hook underneath, and possibly the 1996-1998, but I know the 1999 has a hook that requires the above procedure to remove the seat controls.
So I'd suggust trying to lift the control panel up with your hands (two hands, one hand on passenger side, one on drivers side), and if it doesn't want to lift up use a flat screw driver and lift up lightly at the very rear point and use a flashlight to see under the panel to find out whether there is a hook towards the center of the bottom.

Good luck.
