Default NEW BLK 96 SSEi, got some ?'*: seat cntrls, inflator swtch

one day with this beast, my first bonnie, and so far, she'* sweet. great power, great interior, muscley feel. got no manual, so, got a couple a questions and minor problems. the inflator button in the trunk next to the lockout switch, inflates what and why would i turn it on or off? the rocker switch with a little light and an icon of a light next to the sunroof button, auto headlights? twilight sentinal, min/max, interior lights maybe? i got the tech info for clearing the corners, is it the same for the rears? and does anyone have photos of the clearing steps?

couple a problems, driver seat electric controls that don't work: low, middle and high back adjusters and the side wing control. all other controls work. what does that repair consist of? both touring AND sport ride buttons are lit up, big prob? whats the fix? there is a solid rectangle light in the "trunk" of the message center, and the trunk is closed, it'* situated like a woofer box. compass is lit and sometimes changes direction, but very inaccurate, mode button next to it gets no response, any help?

sorry for the long list, any and all suggestions, hints and imput welcome, whether i addressed it or not. pics, and mod lists to come soon. GREAT SITE GUYS

The switch next to the sunroof is for the Foglights.

No approved fashion of clearing the rear lights. It'* a bad idea anyway since you'll end up getting rear ended by someone who can't see your bulbs light up.

Your Lumbar Controls are out. Both seats? Can you hear a compressor turn on under the passenger front seat when you press one of the buttons?

I think the buttons being lit means your ELC is out.... Not sure there.

I too have a question about the seat controls...Hopefully this isn't hijacking the thread because it'* basically the same question!

I just got a '94 SSEi myself, and the seat control module could probably stand to be replaced...apparently the previous owner'* son spilled a soda over it. Some of the switches/buttons are pretty hard to move, and it'* near impossible to move the L/R switch - in fact, I cannot physically move it all the way left. Now, the regular power functions seem to work fine in the driver'* seat, and ALL (including lumbar) work in the passenger'* seat. Would a new control module fix this problem for me? (That problem being, the lumbar not working in the driver'* seat.)

Alright, Both of you have Non-Functional Drivers' seat Lumbar Controls.

Here'* the test to find the problem:

Disconnect the Solenoid Valve Assembly Connector. It'* under the Drivers' Seat, it'* got Six wires in it.

Seat select switch towards Drivers' Seat.

Measure Voltage between Terminal B of the connector you disconnected and Ground.

Is battery voltage present?

NO:
Replace Console Seat Switch

YES:
Release switch.

Check continuity between Terminal F and ground.

Is there continuity?

YES:
Check for proper terminal contact.

If OK, Replace Seat Solenoid/Valve Assembly.

NO:
Check Tan/Black wire all the way back to the Console Seat Switch.

If all OK, replace Console Seat Switch

as far as the rear corners being clear, i did plan on putting in a bright white bulb, so it'll light up at night, like the stocks. this bonnie is blacked out, and i just hate the yellow on the corner lenses. if i can clear the fronts, i'll probably be brave enough to fiddle with the tails, she'll just look so much cleaner with the whites instead of the yellows.

and thanks for reminding me, synth. i haven't sat in the passenger seat, but it "looks" like the back adjustors work. the left/right switch works smooth, and i can hear the compressor working when i push the buttons.

Remove the switch panel and flush it with rubbing alcohol, let air dry upside-down to get the coke out.

Owner'* manuals are in Techinfo.

Compass Calibration is in Techinfo.

Both 'ride' lights being on means your CCR is out, not the ELC. Different systems totally. CCR strut code retrieval procedure is in Techinfo also.

LOTS of stuff in Techinfo. In fact, I just added an article tonight

Thanks for the tips! I'll see if I can get to that soon (cleaning out the seat controls), and hopefully that'll fix the problem. Otherwise I'll get to those diagnostics at some point.

One question though (and I apologize if this is covered in Techinfo, but I didn't see it) - how exactly do i get the control thing out? Do I just try to pry it out with a screwdriver or something? Obviously I don't want to break anything in my new car....

Thanks again!
