Ok I was told to post on here to get some info on the 4t60e'* and 4t65e'* since the Bonneville'* came with both of these transmissions in its time.

I'm not sure where I should start a post since there doesnt appear to be a specific transmission section.

Where should I ask my question?

Fixed...

Ok now my question is Switching to a 65e HD diff in a 60e... What parts are necessary?

I'm starting with a 96 4t60e so its the same final drive ring as the 65e'* if I'm not mistaken.

I'm currently working with EP as a LSD provider and with him being overwhelmed lately I was looking into other options for later down the road if I blow this one up, Intense'* LSD'* are for the 65e HD diffs so I need to find out if and what is needed to put one in my 60e case.

The 65 diff will not fit in a 60 case or tailshaft housing.

I thought the non HD versions of the 65e and 60e were the same diff?? and the HD was just an extended outer cover and obviously larger diff..

I got this impression because I pulled a 3.29 diff from my 96 sent it to EP as a core for him to use and he sent it to someone on the 60degreev6 board that just installed a 65e in his car and ordered a 3.29 LSD...

If you could expand upon this on why that would be greatly appreciated.

You said 65HD diff in a 60 housing. They are totally different sizes.

EP is partially 'swamped' with one of my own diffs. There is no extra room in my housing for any larger Diff than my 60HD, let alone the larger 65HD diff.

Yeah he also has my diff too... two of them actually, a 3.33 that was being stripped of the LSD parts and the 3.05 its going into and my car is still on jackstands.

But yes your correct, But this is where my question comes up... is the internal final drive ring gear the same diameter and same tooth count? If so then cant the outer diff cover be swapped out just like is done on the 65e to 65eHD conversions?? if you can put a 65eHD diff in a 65e case then why cant you do the same swap on a 60e? Am I crazy to think that?

Whats the difference between a 60e and 60eHD? I've only worked with the 60e'* so far.

There is no larger tailshaft housing that will bolt to a 60. The 65'* won't bolt up.

Not only that, but the inner splines of a 65 diff won't mate to the splines on your output shaft.

So then my only option is a 60HD if I start breaking diffs... and as far as LSD'* go, Jeff is my only option too.

Also 60e and 60e HD, differences are the diff obviously and what else?

With the proposed power that I could be making with my new car I need to know what transmission options I have out there.
