Default My spring build is taking shape

One phase is done, got all the tools I need, and now most of the parts.

First up, my first cam was damaged, so I got another one, just came today. One S1X blower cam

Also got all the parts, timing chain, tensioner, gaskets, etc.

That takes care of the engine. I'm switching back to stock rockers, I might replace the heads if I'm able.

Now on to the transmission. Figured I better get this before it blows up.

First up, a hardened 4th gear clutch shaft.

I'm planning to get new 4th gear clutches as well.

Just picked up a 3000 stall torque converter.

Also on the build list, 3.29 gears and new transfer chain, and a hardened input shaft. Then all I need is a transmission rebuild kit that has all O rings and gaskets and a reluctor wheel to go with the new gears.

Looks like a fun project Dan. Aren't you supposed to build it in the winter so you can enjoy it in the spring? You need a heater.

Not me, I collect in the winter, then build in the spring, and enjoy in the summer.

Does the gasket kit come with the valve cover grommets?

Does not come with the grommets. I have some extras in good shape though.

In good shape or new? I'd suggest buying a set (pretty cheap) because they play an integral part in the proper torque/pressure on the gasket. It would suck to do a nice build up and have VC gasket leaks.

While the engine is out, do you plan on replacing the rear engine cover gasket? I recommend it. It is the most common area for oil seepage on your motors and looks like an oil pan gasket leak.

Oil pan is planned. I'll have to check the rear cover gasket.

If you don't have one. Holler. I'll toss it in with the other stuff. It'* a "should do" whenever you pull the motor for the first time.
