Hmmm...on the Traction Control, I had it on a Grand Prix I had, bu there was no button...it was just on all the time. Maybe yours doesn't allow you to shut it off. :?

traction control isn't the greatest thing going though, can be unreliable and expenisve to fix! Right Bill?

Congrats on the new car....and what a deal too! I bet you at least have traction control, but someone maybe replaced the button console with a improper one. When you ahve a chance pop the button console out and maybe head to a junkyard to see if you can fine one from a SSEi....

Cfoote said what I was gonna. If you can feel the traction working, but no button (which there should be), it'* been replaced. And I have NEVER seen an SSEi without the perform/normal shift buttons.

according to the '93 features & options brochure (and I'm sure it was the same for the '92 model year), traction control and driver select shift is standard on the SSEi model. This means the car would have the 3 button switch pod. If the switch pod is removed on a car that originally came with it, this will cause the traction control to be always on (ok most of the time, but the owners manual mentions some situations when traction control should be switched off) and the shift mode will be normal (again, ok, but you can't take advantage of the performance shifting if you want to).
I'd be really curious to know why someone would go to the trouble of replacing the switch pod with a cover plate (I assume there'* not an opening in the console where the switch should be?)

Maybe they had to replace the console for some reason and couldn't find an SSEi console in a salvageyard...if that kind of thing didn't bother them much they may have figured it was better to just put in one from an SE and save some money.
