Default My Car Is Ill

So for the past month my car has been rattling in the front end. I figure it'* strut mounts. Then it starts making some pretty rude noises when i turn the wheel. I figure CV'*. Finally take it in to get it looked at. THE FRAME IS FALLING OFF. Peachy-keen! The bolts holding it on rotted dispite rust checking. $600 i am on the road again. Same day i get it back it starts to do some freezing rain. Being the kind concerned horsey-mother that i am i go to the barn in the mess to bring my guys inside. As i am approaching the driveway, i hit the brakes, car slides, skids. shuts off. And wont start again
My dad towed it to the shop (thankfully close by) and he thought it may have been timing chain at first. He finally got it running and said it'* goign through more antifreeze than gas and the diagnoses is the intake plentum. At 253k kms i guess it has finally caught up with me :?

i think it comes out to 158k miles. I am having a new intake put in :? Next car though in another year or 2 (probably longer now because of this) i will probably get a 2001 Bonne, or maybe an Impala.

The exact same thing happened to me I wasn't to happy, but the whole car feals much stiffer now that its fixed
(I guess it should considering the front end was falling off).

Good luck in finding a new car, I'd stick with a Bonne or at least a Pontiac but its your call.

Don't you hate it? You love your car, but things start falling apart (no pun intended). So you fix the things. All the problems make you want to get rid of it. But then you figure that you've fixed so many things, it should last for another 150,000 miles and if you've fixed everything, why get rid of it?

Alright, got Wood back and he runs great The spark plugs (Bosch Platinum +4s) were apparently really carbonated :? They are only 4 years old too. Anyways the oil needs to be changed because it looks like chocolate milk but other than that everything is great, started right up and smoooooooooooth now. .
um yea that was me (tamara) not murdock writing

+4'* totally didn't agree with me LN3. AC Delco Rapidfire plugs fared much better.

Chocolate milk oil That'* coolant mixing in... would the plenum issues cause the mixing of oil and coolant, the burning of coolant, or both?

I think it would cause both.. worse case scenario a hydrolocked piston breaking somethin else.. like a connector pin or something that requires more labor to get to. Its been dark and snowing out so I don't know if they put on the Made in "Delphi" re-inforced one or the "rochester" problematic plenum. The anti-freeze can leak thru several ways and blow bys are a common one. If you take a UOA of an old engine you will usually see fuel contimanting the oil from blow bys.

I think it should last for bout 2 years.. by next spring.. I'm putting a 180 T-stat in there and I don't care who says wat

Ive done three of those Intake jobs, mine went at 75,000 Miles and my friends Buick LeSabre went at about 130,000... there not bad they are just more of a PITA then anything else.. I said no when the guy went and said that the repair cost would be near $800 .... but i was lucky and had the tools, place and space to do this at..
