i dont really care how fast those cars are..they are boring..no class..and ford lastly. i mean, i guess you could luck out and find one that looks ok..but you'll get sick of it. Those hatchback stangs look like ford tempos on roids. With a bonne you ride in class and style... how about an SSEi? or gtp ? get somethin nice that you'll enjoy on a DAILY basis. just my 25 cents

I used to have a Lincoln Continental with the ford 3.8 in it. I ended up raceing a 5.0 stang of about the same year once. It was a real close race. My Continental was stock and the stang had mild exterior upgrades done. I can tell you my SSEi would have womped on that 5.0 with no problem. If you want to do any sort of raceing (street, strip, or other), you will need to add some HP to that car. Just remember, 5.0 is an engine size designation, not a HP rateing. I also had a '81 LTD with a 5.0 in it. It had some decent torque but maybe 170hp on a good day.

I personally don't like the looks of that year stang. Besides, if you look at an escort of around the same years you might think they share alot of the same mechanics (frame, suspension, etc...). But if that is what you want, go for it.

great another 5.0 mustang.....there'* something original. they're like the honda civic of "muscle cars". notice jegs and summit have a whole section of mustang or 5.0 performance parts. there'* no way of making them original, plus they are boring and ugly like everyone else says.

one of my friends with a 85 trans am he got for $600 and a 350 for $150 smoked a 5.0 that had a good chunk of money in it.

their is one by my house 5.0 sallen body kit cobra rims and winter rims. for sale i thinks for $5,000. i saw it doing a burn out the other night their was a guy looking at it and the owner was showing its power off. i personally like the old fox body style more then any of the mustangs. my old boss has one he dumps lots and lots of $$ in to i and he races it on road courses. and it sounds so nice. ill try to get a pic of it if he is working when im in town

If it'* a hatchback, pass on it. For some reason, the notchbacks are just faster. And the convertibles are heavier if you wan more traction. Get the tires to stick on the notchback and you'll have a 'Maro Eater!!

Since everyone is throwing out their opinions, here'* mine:

The older 5.0 stangs are great for all out pro-street drag cars due to their weight, size, and ability to do some wicked performance modifications. But yes, I agree that they are not the easiest car to look at. The new Cobra'* make me drool though.

Older trans am/camaro would be SO MUCH more fun. I only like pre 70 mustangs, and the new 05 concept.
