Default Mitsu 3000 GT

Just got home from the local football game. This one was easy:

We have a great road near me for racing. It'* straight, flat and has nowhere for miles that cops can hide. It is surrounded by cornfields, no ditches, which is great in case of the crazy-car syndrome. The last light before the "raceway" had just turned red when I pulled up. A couple of second later, a lovely riced Mitsu 3000 GT rolls up next to me with the hip hop going strong. So I turned the new Disturbed CD all the way up. He gives me a look and revs. I look down... 1/4 tank of gas, still running with my octane boost from Thursday night, temp down around 185, new oil. I say what the F. I switch off the traction, left-foot the brake, rev to 1900-2000rpms. The light goes green and so do we. By the time we reached the 1/4 mile line (it was painted by the kiddies about a year ago), he was at LEAST 5 cars behind and REALLY pissed off! I continued to keep my foot to the floor for another 1/4 or so and he was just a dot.
I stopped to get gas at the last place before the house, and as I was finishing, he pulled in. We spent a good 20 minutes talking about my Bonnie and his rice. He said he'* never been had by a 4 door before. Guess this is one story that won't get back to his 'hood.

I think you caught the guy with his pants down. He should have beat you by at least the margin you beat him by. Most of the 3000'* run in the 13'* and 14'* stock. We usually run 15'* and 16'*. Reaction time and general mechanical performance probably made the difference for you, but it'* ok to take advantage for a kill like that

The 3000GT'* the run 13'* and 14'* are the VR4'*.... The 3000GT SL'* run 15 or 16'*..... That heavy of a car (like ours) being moved by a 3.0L engine... know your cars...

You got me.....I just looked it up again. Is there any way without looking at badges to tell them apart....body trim, molding, etc?

Yes, except for the VR4, most 3000GTs aren't that fast. Non-turboed, they only had 222hp, and 205ft/lbs out of a 3.0L DOHC V6, in a car that weighs as much as your Bonnie.

Yeah, the easiest way you can tell is the 300GT SL'* will have a small SL badge on the back, but the body kit and the wheels on the car isnt as nice as a VR4. Plus if you have your windows down you should hear the twin turbos while its driving around. But the VR4'* are kinda rare since they were so expensive brand new, not alot were purchased. But when you go against a VR4, you will know.

A little worse than the bright yellow BMW M3 with the "BZZZZZ" licence plate that blew my doors off a couple weeks ago? Fastest damned bee I ever saw. Biggest, too.

It'* 20 minutes west of Fredericksburg on Rt. 3, about half way to Culpeper. we have quite a few Bonneville'* in the lake community where I live. I am going to run an ad soon in the newsletter to see if I can get some interest up in a local club. The Pontiac/Oakland club of Central VA doesn't want anything to do with us, so I figured we'd do it on our own!
