You're going to need around 400 bucks to start the last time I priced it out. I've taken both my cars where they are with a CP9110.
The only other investment was a Wideband O2 for the Zilla, which to me is far more valuable than a scantool that logs to a PC.

You can get a analog to digital converter from Moates.net and EFI Live V4 to log data on a laptop.
