Default Looking to Buy... Happy with yours?

I've owned an 89 and 91 Bonneville in the past. I knew Bonnevilles went out of production, and I never really knew about the GXP. In the past week I "discovered" the Bonneville GXP. I was looking at a new GP GXP, when I realized that there could be some new Bonnevilles left, and then I found the GXP. What an interesting car!

Well, I found that there are some GXPs available, and I went to look at a couple today. I'm falling for a Graystone. The MSRP is over $38 and he offered a deal of $27 plus tax and plates.

My questions:
Does that sound like a pretty good deal?
Are you happy with your GXP... would you buy again?

Good deal actually. I am happy with me 2005 SLE (sorta) like a GXP. I would go for it. There aren't many left on lots...

if you are not gonna Modify the car, a GXP is a great daily driver, and a real head turner...

No mods planned... I have a Camaro to play with. This will be a daily driver.
Well, I will have to something about those rusty rotors. They look awful.

Thanks for the encouragement.

SLE and GXP are totally different dude. just cause you have parts of the same bodywork does not make it so.

I drove a 2005 SLE before the GXP and it was a huge difference. The GXP is just a much more refined car.

GM made the 2005 SLE a GXP poser thats it.

Yeah, if you are going for a new GXP $27 isn't too bad -I noticed that is about as low as the new 'leftover' GXP'* are listed for on www.autotrader.com and local auto web sites (www.keepitlocal.com, www.autoshopper.us, etc...).
No mods available aside from maybe doing the cat and mufflers, but there isn't even room under the hood for a CAI -might be able to do a FWI but I've never looked close enough to see.
All-in-all a GXP is a great cruiser, but just don't let the fact of it having a N* V8 make you think you can put the whoop on SSEi'* from a stop light (no pun intended -it'* just a fact many of us here at BC have seen/heard).
Handling and Ride quality is way beyond any prior Bonneville, as is the looks.

Two things you will want to get though are some ceramic brake pads (these cars are notorious for brake dust) with slotted rotors (as you already mentioned), and some better tires.

Yeah the GXP wont win any stoplight pulloffs against a SSEi but after 60mph bye bye SSEi.

Not a problem, since I don't plan to do any light racing.
The ride was pretty impressive. I was expecting a much stiffer/harsher ride, but it was pretty decent.

It'* too early for me to judge the handling.

I'm dragging my feet, but I'll probably do it this week.

Ummmmm....you better add at least 20mph to that figure.

There are a host of problems with some stuff. If you get it all done under warranty, and done RIGHT, you'll be ok. But ultimately, it'* not a performance sedan in the sense that the bonneville was before. It'* a pontiac-badged Cadillac.

The reason they offered you the 'deal' is because they aren't selling. Offer him 2k less and sign the deal.
