Default Looking at a 2000 SSEI this weekend any tips?

2nd owner 68k miles
blue on tan
loaded chrome wheels, heated seats, hud etc...
owner said he had a vaccum leak and failed emmisions test and had to get a gasket replaced at a cost of $900. I thaught the intake failure was only for non supercharged cars? anyhow that has been done and the car has new brakes and tires. stated that there is no water in trunk and no noises when you turn the wheel.

what should I offer? and what to look for?

This is a good article to use when you look at a car that you like...

Could have been the lower intake gaskets...that is a problem for L36 and L67. Does he have receipts for that work? How long ago was that work done? Did they use newer style aluminum gaskets?

Did the car successfully pass emissions after the work was done?

Why is he selling? Knowing it'* had gasket issues, you must listen very carefully for odd crankcase noises...after gasket problems / coolant ingestion, there is a chance coolant can:

a) get mixed with oil and cause problems with main bearings
b) fill cylinder(*) and cause bent rods through hydrolocking

ask about the window regulators.....they are also very prone to go out! Does it have a sunroof? Ask if that seal or any other seals (doors) have been replaced!
