If thats the case it must have been bored .040 oversized, requiring a piston thats .040 over...
So that means you now have a 3.84 inch bore and a 3.40 inch stroke...

And if your exhaust sounds bad when you rev it high, there'* a chance you might have a plugged catalytic converter. We just had this on my wife'* 2001 Grand Prix GT. At highway speed if you floored it, it would choke and sputter and make popping noises from the exhaust. You should get it checked out because the coverter is warranted for either 8 or 10 years, depending on where you live, and you don't have to be the original owner of the car.
