Is it just me? (pumping gas...not about the price, nor MPG)

Default Is it just me? (pumping gas...not about the price, nor MPG)

Hey,

Maybe I just suck at the gas pump, but the pump stops. It like pumps 1 gallon, and shuts off like my tank is full, but I still have 1/2 a tank to go. I get frustrated after about 3 gallons or so, so I stop....and go to another station. Sometimes the same thing happens...other times I can fill my tank...no problem.

I would normally say that it is just the pump that is in need of cleaning, but when it has happened like 3 times, all at different stations...and 2 of the three times it has happened at more than one station on the same day...leads me to believe I don't know how to pump gas

Anyone?

It could be you. Try turning the nozzle of the pump a little left or right. If you are filling and the vent tube is also getting fuel, it could cause a temporary moment where the fuel fills both and reaches the nozzle turning it off.

Or you could be like the other member with the Monte Carlo and possibly have an issue with the vent tube at the tank causing a filling issue.

I think your sister broke it when she had the car. Blame her.

When I encounter this problem I start tinkering. try pulling out the nozzle an inch or so and Try squeezing the nozzle 3/4 or 1/2 way.

PJ.. since you never had a problem with it. You can now hold this over his head for the rest of his life.

"....and then there was that time he couldn't even pump gas properly"

Bahahah!!

The best example I have seen of filling a tank, beyond the mechanical "stop" of the gas pump was by sse1990, when he filled up Seths (smellbird) 98 SLE, I swear he got like 60L into the tank..

Divide by 3.8 to get gallons bishes :P
