It's really starting to get to me
I would have to agree with the Save your money and getting what you want first point. I went from a 93 L27 => 00 L67 => 98 L36 and soon will be driving a 93 L67, so I have driven them all, and I have to say the power on the 00L67 Regal GSE was awesome. I miss that so much. I would say hold off on modding the SSE and save for the SSEi and then mod the hell out of it. That way you can keep the SSE for those times when you don't really need the power (to/from work) and have the SSEi for when you need it (weekend/racing mustangs)
Man, and I am thinking my car is fast. 165hp/210ft lbs tq stock... and you guys are talking 270/300s. But, I will agree, that going from driving my Bonneville, to my mom'* 100hp vdub, is a large step backwards. So, I see where you are coming from, but imagine driving my car! You guys would probably want to shoot yourself.

THanx to Mr. M90, you will get hp and tq like that
I know just what you mean. As soon as I sold my '97 SSEi, all I saw on the road were SSEi'* that weren't mine! They were everywhere, but none of them were for sale. It was like a little coal in my belly: L67, L67, gotta have an L67. I was not fulfilled until I bought the '92. There is just something special about these cars.

An alternative would be to cam/head/headers the car. The L36 can become quite peppy with addons that will cost a lot less then even a 4000 car. Sure its much easier to upgrade an L67 but if you want to work with what you have its not unheard of to have an L36 running mid to high 13s.
