I thought this might be so as the computers are getting better in cars.

Yeah I wouldn't want my car telling them that I just hit the punk rather than hitting the brakes.

GM is smart.. that has saved them millions in court.
every vehicle in the last 8-10 years that GM has made also has a GPS.
The black box isnt all that black.. its silver.. lol I took mine appart(in my 92trofeo) and drove without it and after an hour of driving i got shut down. So did you just think those wires going to the seat belt where just for kix?
-The 95 Deville in the story has a body control moduel so cadillac hardly ever goes off on a limb so you could tell that my trofeo has the ginnipig BCM/SDM for those cadis!
They didnt mension what GM had the first Air bag.. ahem! the 74 toronado... AKA the ginnipig!

There was a joke about this
"The most common thing said before a crash in ... was 'Oh ****!'"
"The most common thing said before a crash in alabama was 'hey son, Hold my beer and watch this!'"

Also if your in say a truck or an suv or small car GM has the right to remotly shut your vehicle down and void your warrenty if you are going over 160km/h... They probably wouldnt do this if you where in a big lux sedan or a corvette.

This technolagy has been in semi trucks for a long time... If you where speeding in a company truck or with a company trailer the company that hired you can take the speeding ticket off of your pay... (even if you dont get pulled over) - once you hit 11% over the speeed limit they automaticly take 2-300dollars off of your pay check.

From my point of view, working for the General, it'* already proven invaluable! It saved GM from getting sued by one jerk that said his air bag went off accidently while driving down a county road......What this jerk forgot to mention was that he was doing 140 MPH at the time on a "wash-board" road, which the car'* ECU thought was a panic stop due to lack of traction & inflated the air bags.....Finale was jerk got case thrown out & could face fines in the thousands for numerous traffic violations......Court also ruled that air bags did exactly what they were designed to do too.
