So it will leak oil and coolant. Is that normal for them to leak both.

There is no oil that goes up to the UIM, the only oil that can get up there is threw the PCV valve. The coolant my be mixing with grim or carbon to look like oil.

Well it smells like oil and has the oil texture to it. Also I cleaned the motor off a few times since I noticed the leak.

The only places oil can leak high on the engine is perhaps a bit under the lower intake manifold along the lifter valley. And from the valve cover gaskets.

So if it is leaking from the LIM can it be seen. The oil can be seen right under the Mas Airflow Sensor.

If it'* right under the throttle body, below the aluminum LIM and the block, then that is the rubber seal. This seal is changed at the same time as the LIM gaskets.

Oil can leak onto the LIM. Typically in the recessed areas where the bolts are located. This is because the bolts are threaded into the heads wehre coolant and oil ports are located. Oil is less common as it'* not under pressure, but it can seep up there. Did on my car

The best piece of advice we can give you is to replace the UIM when you do this job. The UIM has a weakness in the area where the coolant goes past the EGR tube and into the throttle body. Over many heat cycles the expansion and contraction of the EGR area cracks the one layer of plastic (the manifold is a nylon aka plastic) that seperates the coolant from teh EGR. Then the coolant is in the intake manifold. Down the road this leaks to hydrolocking. Rockauto has about the best price after forum discount code.

Thanks yall for the info. I will keep an eye on it and replace it wen it starts to leak more. Right now it is only a small leak not a big leak yet.

Hey Joshua looks like you're faced with what i like to think of as a 3800 enthusiast initiation. This is the one job everyone fears at first but once they do are amazed at how easy it is. heres a link that was extremely helpful to me.

https://www.gmforum.com/t278911/

study the write up, until you got the procedure down, don't let the thought of pullin your engine apart freak you out. Thing is once you have it apart you'll get a good idea of just how simple of an engine the 3800 is. have fun and please continue to post any questions you might have.
