Insurance Rates

Does anyone know if insurance rates for an SLE are the same for an SSEi?? There's over $500 difference between an SE and the other quoteI was given.

Trying to budget out to see what I can afford for my new car...I made a big mistake on it before, so it's $30 more than what I thought. I know that dosn't sound like a whole lot, but it is when I am trying to scrimp and save....

Mayhem_3 05-31-2003 02:05 PM

Damn I'm paying full coverage with a $500 decuctable on my 98 ssei and its only $372 every 6 months. I've got a clean license so maybe that may help though. My old 88le was costing me about 225 every 6 months so It really didn't go up that much. The 88le had only liability on it. I go threw american family insurance and have been since high school and never had a problem with them. I'm 26 so maybe the age might come into play also.

CraZyDriVer868 05-31-2003 02:06 PM

i pay 170/month for full coverage...i gotta ssei....with American Family mutual and im 17 male too...so...its pretty cheap

russianpolarbear 05-31-2003 02:08 PM

I pay 700 every 6 months for PLPD :x becuase I have what you say Bad driving record

Mayhem_3 05-31-2003 02:10 PM

Per month its just a little over 60 bucks. This is the first car that I've had full coverage on. My 88le wasn't worth enough to have it on and for sure my 73 dodge dart 4 door(which was a really fun care during my high school years) sure as hell wasn't worth it.

bonnie94ssei 05-31-2003 02:33 PM

I would think the SLE is lower than that of the supercharged. I have an SSE which is basically like an SLE in appearance, just prob. has more options. But mine is lower than a SC. My insurance is in the process of going down after my last grade report. But before that I was paying $137 a month, full coverage. I'm 21 and have a clean record (I wasn't caught going 112 in a 65   That's why.

willwren 05-31-2003 02:43 PM

Tam, the SLE should be much cheaper than a SSEi to insure. The SLE is a package on the SE platform.

smellbird 06-01-2003 05:04 PM

I agree, SLE should be cheaper. My insurance would go up 200$ just because of the supercharger.

OLBlueEyesBonne 06-01-2003 05:52 PM

I've got State Farm and for full coverage on my 1994 SLE (basic Se body, but just a few more options) with 185,000 miles it would run me $138/mo and I'm 22 and have nothing on my record for 2 years and prior to that all that I had was speeding tickets. I only have liabilaty because that's all I can afford right now and that's running me $61 a month (and they told me my rates wouldn't go up for being rea-ended -since then liablilaty has gone up 20%+ from $47/mo and on my old 1992 SE full coverage was only $91/mo).
And all this is with the multi-car discount -phooey!!!
I'm getting raped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :ack:
I think it's time I start shopping around.

Tamara 06-01-2003 05:54 PM

So SE, SLE, and SSEi all have different rates?? Or are teh SE and SLE considered the same?

Rotgut 06-03-2003 12:50 AM

I pay $950 a year for full coverage on my Bonnie. I don't know if that's a good price or not, but it's a lot better than the $2000 a year I was paying on my Firehawk.

BonneAlien 06-03-2003 01:29 AM

I'm yet to deal with SSEi rates for my insurance .. :) ..i pay 70$/month on my 89 lesabre baby..which is pretty damn cheap for 17yrs old ..and driving an SSEi full-time. The only time the buick moves is to/from baseball stuff.

bonnie94ssei 06-03-2003 01:44 AM

I have State Farm too, I should be @ about ~$100 a month by the end of this month, full coverage.

Tamara 06-03-2003 10:34 AM

wow...I don't know why mine is so expensive and i am older than a lot of you...are you under your parent's insurance?? When i was it was only $800 / year....this is crazy
i called yesterday for clarification and the $3400 she quoted me (WITHOUT TAX) was a 2000 SSE and when I said that's not what i'm getting, she said there's no such thing as an SLE lol so it might be considered a base model (I told her it's just like an SE hehe) but said she needed the VIN # to be sure... :?

Now the guy who is looking for my new car is at the auction right now....I am a MESS!!! I'm so nervous and excited that he will get one....how am i ever going to make it thorugh the day?? if he dosn't get one, i have to wait a whole other week!! aaaaah

smellbird 06-03-2003 11:42 AM

Ha! I know what that is like. The anxiety was killing me when I bought my SLE, had to wait an entire weekend while the dealer went through the car. I got about 6 hours of collective sleep that weekend. Keep us updated of developments.

h1081dan 09-23-2003 06:56 PM

I pay $70per month for Liability + Comprehensive. It would be around$120 if I wanted Full Coverage, per month.

ssesc93 09-23-2003 07:00 PM

THe SLE, deepending on the year, should be the same a s an SE.

1992 trofeo 09-23-2003 08:01 PM

oh well, cant drive without it.. For all my vehicles im paying 11,000 a year (can.) but im over the 25th mark. (27!!!.. 3more years and it goes down again!)

I think I got you all beat. $2,900 a year for my 97 sse. Im damn near 24, And i have a perfect record! effin JERSEY!

smellbird 09-23-2003 09:47 PM

Makes my 600 odd dollars a year seem trivial. :?

CraZyDriVer868 09-23-2003 10:36 PM

randa...i pay 7 bucks more a month..!

TaylorD 09-24-2003 04:30 AM

Man is that 400 a month? That's outragous. My 96 Aurora was $950-1200 per 6 months with collision, now the 01 ssei is about the same. $1010 Im 22 now

My buddy with a 78 cougar beater pays $27 a month for basic.

Boberle1150 09-24-2003 07:23 AM

I am only 18 and pay 248 a month and have a 500 deductable. It's not too bad but way more than I would like to pay. That was cheapest of my quotes. My most exspensive quote I got was 425 a month and taht was way too much!!

BonneMeMN 09-24-2003 08:06 AM

I have state farm, and after every concievable discount (the car has a passive security system - VATS) and their safe drivers book, and video i did i'm under $500USD every 6 months... How you may ask? I had two options at the same price. One was my comprehensive with a $500 deductible, the other was comprehensive with a $2k deductable and Full Free glass repair. I choose the later, as i figure i'd rather have free glass, because that will break (and my windshield is pitted to shit). I might change it though, i'll still get money if i total it too.

The rates are based on if you have a supercharger or not, they even asked me for my car if it had one, they must know about the SESC or SSESC'ed ones...
