Insurance Pricing Questions
well while I owned my bonneville I never had it insured because I was not insuring it until i got it completely road-worthy. Now, with that said, it was an SSEi - a 95 with only 225 hp. If I were to insure the car would it be more just because it has a supercharged engine versus a N/A? because if that is so, its really dumb because most modern N/A engines make more hp than 225. I know that typically 2 door vehicles are more cost then 4 doors so I was wondering if being the sportier of the bonnevilles would make it more money as well. thanks

I think they see it as a vehicle with 'sport' trim, which usually does add some to the premium, but I can't imagine it would be that much. Give them the VIN, make no comments on the vehicle, and shop around for insurance.

I don't think it makes that much of a difference. I was paying $700 a year for liability only on my 99 SLE', it doubled to $1400 a year with my 03' SSEi on full coverage. It'* come down quite a bit now thankfully, but that sounds about right for moving to a newer vehicle and switching to full coverage.

For what it'* worth:
I pay $65 a month for my NA, coverage at state minimum, except for maxed-out medical insurance (I'm otherwise uninsured in that area). Geico offered me the cheapest rate by far.

seriously? what company are you with? My mom got a quote that would be around $150 a month for me on my Bonne. With barely any coverage. I need to know what company you're with. I know it depends on where you're from too. lol

You really cant compare insurances state to state. Or even city to city within a state. The numbers you guys are posting are really meaningless to others. It goes by so many variables, including the level of insurance, age of car if comprehensive and/or collision is wanted, driving record, age of driver, how long driver has been driving, driving record, previous accidents, average shop hour rates in your area, average claim in your area, average income per capita, how many accidents per capita And sq. Miles, how many miles you drive to work roundtrip, what percentage is for leisure.
Getting the Picture? You can't go with any rate somebody else gets, or location, or even insurance company because in one location, one will be best buy, but in another location it will be different. Your best bet is let an independent insurance agent do the work and comparing. Better yet, use two different ones and compare each'* comparisons.
