Was getting an extended on you bonne warranty worth it?
I'm getting closer to the end of my factory warranty and am trying to decide what to do next. So far I haven't had any issues with my car.
Was particularly curious as to what the 00+ owners have to say on this.

When I checked into the cost of an extended warranty, I decided not to purchase one. I would have to have both the engine and transmission fail before the cost broke even.

Now about the extended on any car, think of this -
If they are trying to push a warranty, it means they sold you a good car. They are NOT going to want to warranty a POS.
I always decline it. I once had a Ford (of all cars) and they tried to sell me an extended. I turned it down, they got all pissy. Thing is, I never would have used it, cause it had no problems til after the warranty would have expired.
Keep something else in mind - if you file a warranty claim, here is how it works - YOU pay the cost of repair, and they reimburse you later when you have proof of repair costs..
PLUS, you have to really read the warranty, they do not always cover much.
You could talk to your insurance agent, I think they have some sort of policy you can buy (for about $500) that will cover a good % of repair costs. AllState used to do that.
Just something to look at, but the car cannot be older than 6 or 7 years.

My extended warranty turned out to be worthwhile on my 1997 SE when I bought it in 1999, but it was a used car, being sold by the dealership.
When we bought my wife a used 2001 Grand Prix GT in 2003, I declined the extended warranty and as it turns out I would not have used it during the period the car would have been under warranty. If I were buying a used 2000+ Bonneville today, I would not get an extended warranty.
Also, the GM extended warranty generally expires when the car reaches 60,000 miles, so if you buy a used car with say, 40,000 miles, an extended warranty doesn't buy you much time.
