Default I notice something about supercharged cars

Mine does oit buit its louder. First off, when I had my 97 SSE I raced a couple of GTP'* and Regals on the expressway. When, of course, they passed me up, I heard nothing but a loud loud noise from the tailpipe. The noise is louder than a regular car mashing the accelorator. Is this because its supercharged? What makes this loud noise? Second, my car makes a louder noise but I think its because I need an exhaust.

The GTP'* and Regals have different exhausts than the Bonneville in general period, they're louder with or without the supercharger, the GTP being the loudest of them all. They're not made to be as quiet as a Bonneville. It isn't because they're supercharged.

The fact there'* a supercharger doesn't make the exhaust louder. Loudness is deteremined by the exhausts system to subdue the vibrations in the air thru mufflers, resonators, and the pipe. The supercharger just makes some more air come out the engine.

I have noticed the same thing, forced induction cars being louder that is. I am not sure if it is true or not, but it seems to me like they are. Maybe the higher compression in the cylinders because of the power adder makes the engine louder under boost. I know they sound the same at idle, but I think they are louder under WOT, even with the same exhaust. I know when I follow the GTP it sounds like it has a V8 in it when my dad gets on the gas hard, and it sounds pretty wimpy at idle and when just accelerating normal. Maybe its just my imagination, but I think they are louder.

THANK YOU SHAWN!!! I know I wasn't going crazy here. I thought the same thing that */C cars ARE louder than an NA. My NA didnt sound loud at all. My aunts NA didnt sound loud either but yhat GTP was soundig like somebody was sandblasting some windows and the GS I raced sounded like he was trying to break the next sound bearier. LOL!

I've always loved the sound of gp exhaust. Its a lot deeper I think, not necesarily louder. Is it because of the mufflers that they have? I think a bonneville would sound great like that.

I don't believe the GP has a real dual exhaust, just a single exhaust exiting to pipes on each side? :?

Forced induction cars are louder. Jseaberts 93SSE was significantly quieter than my 93SSEi when it was still mostly stock.
