Ok the last oil change after 4k miles my oil looked like dark chocolate. The dipstick is like black on someparts (not just metal color, its GRIME color.) and i think my engine isnt a good as it should be because i had been practically sitting around for 8 years (the car got 25K miles in its first year of life, then i bought it with 38.5K eight years later) I had run an additive with the oil that was supposed to clean out the engine with normal use (and thats why i assume it was dark chocolate color) but now i put new oil in and i run it for 75 miles and its dark-ish already. I had seen some stuff that i want to put in the engine that you run it in the engine (at idle) for 10 mins then get rid of it with your old oil. Im worried about my engine and its time to get it clean and perfect at the upcoming 50K mile mark. Any suggestions? I need somtething that will work well and not too expensive (like i cant afford a rebuild). My goal is for my baby to go 300k miles before i even think of getting rid of her. Thanks yall....

Yeah change the oil alot over the next few months. I had to do this with my trans. When I bought this car it had the dirtiest looking tranny fluid. I changed i tbefore I brought it from WV to central PA. Then a week later I saw that I still had some dirt mixed with my trans oil. I change it again and its been pretty clean since. I am puting a trans cooler on soon and I will change it again then as well. Your engine should be the same way, I wouldn't recomend changing it every week as I did my first two trans changes. But I would buy the cheapest oil and changed it often until your satisfied with how clean the oil looks when it comes out and when you feel that you have changed it enough to get your internals cleaner. Shouldn't take too long. Also, My new engine came from a 1994 SE out of salvage yard. It only had 23k on it when it was put in my bonny . I know that engine was not run in years and I haven't had one problem with this engine yet, so yours should be fine as well. Thats just my opinion.

That'* motor flush. It basically thins the oil to a water consistency and tries to dissolve all the buildup at once, after which you hope that it all drains out so that its residue doesn't thin the fresh oil you put in.

Like the others said: Skip the miracle additives crap and just do a couple of short-term oil and filter changes -- say, no more than 500 miles per change. After you've done that a couple of times, you _will_ see an improvement, and you can maybe go for 1000-2000 miles before your third oil change.

Remember that oil is _supposed_ to suspend dirt until the filter can get the bigger stuff out, and the oil keeps the rest of it (the really microscopic stuff) in suspension until you change it. So if the oil turns black, it'* doing its job, since it is finding dirt and picking it up. Things _will_ get better after you've done a couple of short-term changes. Don't worry about having to do anything above and beyond that.
