An SSEi will hand a Thunderbird it'* *** on a silver platter, and SC oil will add no performance. It prevents wear in the bearings and gears of the nosedrive. Nothing else. If you don't know how old it is, change it. Procedure is in Techinfo.

Moving to General Chat. We try to keep this section for mechanical problems only.

It should also be noted that the Ford 3.8 is a totally different engine in almost all ways than the GM 3.8

My parents had a 96 or 97 T-Bird...3.8 RWD...seemed a LOT slower than my L27 at the time. It didn't drive nearly as nice either! The L27 was so much smoother. Of course, as stated, it'* a totally different engine.

96 T-bird: 145 HP @ 4,000 rpm; 215 ft lb @ 2,750 rpm

My little brother has a 94 V8 T-Bird and I destroyed him in my old stock Bonnie 89 SE (196,000 miles). T-birds are really heavy though...

......and will still lose to an SSEi. Their power delivery sucks. So does their gearing and engine management.
