I used to keep a spare set in my wallet. This was born of necessity
.
With the new cars it is a little harder to do. My car has one all-in-one key now and it looks like something you would give a baby to play with. I should really be looking into alternative ways of hiding/carrying a spare key.

I locked my keys in my Park Avenues trunk once, (this was when i was 15, car wasnt on the road yet)
Me and my dad were working on it, gettin ready to head out to buy new plugs, wires, and other stuff for a compleat tune up.
I slammed my truck shut befor we left then OH ****, the keys are still in there!
So after a bit of brain storming, i opened the glove box (were the power trunk release is on park aves), and stripped back both wires going to the power release switch, grabbed some speaker wire from the house, and attached it to either end of the ELC fuse, tapped the pos and neg ends of the speaker wire to the stripped back wires on truck release switch, and bingo, trunk opend!
I was quite happy with my idea!

Years ago when I sold cars for a living. We had a female sales person, forgot her name, but we all called he “Space Cadet”. She would lock keys in cars 4 and 5 times a week. I got good with a slim Jim. She once took a new Lincoln to show a customer in Seattle (about 60 miles away) and decided to go to the mall, lost the keys-who knows where. Had to take the Greyhound back. Took 2 days off and when she came back she couldn’t remember which mall. Took us 3 days to find it….I fired her stupid “Space Cadet” ***.

I had a friend once that owned an old rear wheel drive car (caddilac maybe.. it was a BIG car) . I was with him once when he locked his keys in his car. He told me "Oh thats ok i have this really awesome holder i got a while ago that i hid really well under here with a spare key" Well he dove under his car while i waited.... and waited... and waited. Then he comes back up about 5 minutes later and says to me "come help me look for it I caint find it" So i dove under the car with him and i asked him where he had placed it last and he pointed and said "right up on top of this here tube thing" I silently got out from under the car and said to him "hold onto that tube for a second" I pushed his car back and forth between the parking block (you know how your car can move while in park) And he then said the most priceless line i heard all all month " ...'ell Ill be! Who-da thunk it'd move!" Then he continued to feel around further up and down the driveshaft untill i finnally convinced him once and for all that it wont be there anymore. I think i laughed for days after that.
So at least you didnt pull a stunt like that
