Default how to remove a stuck axle nut (and a seized hub): the redneck way.

hey all. so last night after work lauren said impy was wobbly. upon inspection, the driver front wheel had about 1/4" of play in it. so i went and bought a hub and set off to do what i had done on my car 3 times for each front wheel.

the axle nut was seized, and i couldnt find a cheater pipe. so i did what any good redneck would do. i used my 240ft/lb wrench.

then i couldnt get the hub off because it was too rusted. i tried bolting the wheel back on and using a ratchet strap between the tow hook on my car and the wheel, but all that did was drag my car in the grass. (looking back it wasnt the smartest idea even with the wheel bolted to the hub) so i tried whacking the bolts with a dead blow, no love. what i ended up doing was getting an impact socket and a sledge hammer and hit the top part of the bearing toward the back of the car till the holes didnt line up. i then put the bolts in backward and used them to evenly drive the hub out.

the thing was so stuck in there the entire abs assembly stayed in the knuckle, and i had to drive that out too, with a screw driver.

heres some pics of the hub.

i ended up taking over 3 hours to finish the job that i have done 7 times now.
