That is just WRONG!!! They will enjoy the ride and probably trash it. Best case scenario- they ditch it somewhere quickly.

The insurance will cover it if you have comp on it.

Thanks for the replys and good thoughts.
We are 30 miles north of Fort Wayne on US 33. The SSEI had the chrome swoopie wheels. I had left the keys in it because it was in a locked garage and the wife and I both drive it as needed. The perp had bought the *-10 from a guy in the U.P. of Michigan but never titled it. It still had the plate from the previous owner on it. It may be in the area of North Webster , IN or between there and Hessel ,MI. I'm considering hiring a P.I. ....

Before you start paying out-of-pocket to find it, won't your insurance cover the loss?

I got a call this week from a towing Co. about 7 miles away. Evidently the perp left the Bonneville in a factory parking lot. It sat there for 2 weeks before they bothered to check on it. Even then they didnt call the police....they just had it towed. The tow-guy was cool...he found the keys above the sun visor and drove it back to his place instead of hooking it. I called the sheriff and met him at the car. The thief kept all the stuff that he had stolen but I'm guessing he didn't want to stay with the car just in case on-star was tracking it. My insurance co. had paid off on it the day before so it belongs to them...That'* OK I am buying an '02 SSEI...this time dark blue. It'* a returned GM lease with 45,000 miles on it. My insurance Co. (Auto Owners) has been very accomodating ...very impressed with their service.
Thanks everyone for all your responses.

Dude! C'mon, now! Don't you have more than one set of keys? :?

The perp had bought the *-10 from a guy in the U.P. of Michigan but never titled it. It still had the plate from the previous owner on it. It may be in the area of North Webster , IN or between there and Hessel ,MI. I'm considering hiring a P.I. ....
I'm confused... The perp left an *-10 stuck in the mud, which you (okay, the cops) now have, and he'd actually _bought_ it from somebody in U.P. who would presumably know something about who he is, and the local cops aren't even interested in that much of a lead? You must have a really good donut franchise in your town...

Ok,Ok .......I know the keys left in it was dumb!!!Just complacent I guess.....We're in the country...since one of our businesses is here at home there is always someone here so I was not as careful as I should have been. The P/O of the truck gave the cops a name but he hasn't been around ( there'* warrants out for him even before this crime). We don't have proof that he actually commited this crime. It does seem that crimes like this don't get as much attention but I suppose it is a minor deal compared to all the crap that they have to deal with where people are actually being physically harmed. (drugs, domestic problems, etc.)
