They shouldn't turn off until the ignition is turned off. Mouse..it sounds like one of the wires in yours is getting ready to leave the building..lol

looks like huge mess..i want to change T handle to cobra handle I did it on my 98 trans am can I use the one from 96 GP on the 03 bonne?

Negative, they are fine. Every car I've ever owned they either go off after a period of time, or once they reach a certain temperature.
