allright its the time of year when its startin to get frickin cold in the morning.anyway....allright now if i go out and start the car and turn the heat on and leave it running for oooh 5 minutes it hasnt started to warm up. but if i let it run for 5 minutes or so with no climate controls turned on, its starting to warm up. and my car blows reasonably warm air as soon as the temp gage moves off of 100.so theoretically it would make more sense to start the car for 5 minutes with no climate controls on, then when you get out there turn the heat on right? cause the way i understand things the heat makes the coolant circulate therefore making the engine warm up slower....right? or maybe im messed up in da head.this is what i think about in computer class.......very sad.

Heat from the engine usually helps. For example, last week I went to Timmy Ho ho'* with SpoTT in the Rora for coffee. It was cool outside, 2 peeps in the car, moonroof back, the windows got foggy. We need warm air to clear the condensation from the inside of the glass. I turned on the heat, not realizing the car was off. Air blew..but nothing happened. Fired up the car...it blew hot air.. and cleared the fog. So, I guess you can let the car warm up first, then turn the heat on...instant heat...

well i mean the car seems to warm up slower when you start it and then immediately turn the heat on as compared to starting it and leaving everything off.

My remote starter runs for 10-15 minutes, so I just make sure evrything is on when I get out. Then fire it up 10-15 minutes early. The gas cost is worth not having to scrape as much. I'm a freeze baby...

Haven't had a chance to test this in the dead of wintwr yet, but it worked fine for the little bit I got to do it earlier this year.

if u have a 180 stat, could this cause a slow warm up?

Maybe I'm nuts but it seems like the reason for this would be the fan...if you turn the climate control right on when you start the car it is blowing air into the cabin and doesn't it suck that air in through the engine bay area? That would cool the engine even more so it would take a while to heat up.

Or maybe I have it all wrong...I don't have a lot of knowlege in this area. :P

i noticed that too...this past winter i would get up and turn on teh car and then go take a shower befroe schoola nd when i got out ther eit was blowing like cool but not cold air...it sucks ....but i think this year im gunan every night have the fan set on manual on defrost on low and see if that helps any...so ic ould get out there and crank it up cuz it will be warmer...the only thing that sucks is the amoutn of gas that gets wasted...and premium of course...oh well good thing gas is 1.49 for premium at fleet farm...
